About Yuan Jiaqi

Yuan Jiaqi is a nationally acclaimed artist, an industry leader of the jade carving profession, and a university professor. In 1994, he obtained a national lifetime subvention. In 1995, he received the Hubei May 1st “Labor Medal” and was recognized as an outstanding young expert. In 1996, he was titled “Chinese Jade Carving Master”. In 2000, he was selected as a judge for the Chinese Arts and Crafts Masters. In 2014, he was named “Heir of Intangible Cultural Heritage” of Hubei turquoise sculpture. In 2015, he was appointed as the jade carving advisor for the “Advanced Seminar for Young Heirs of Intangible Cultural Heritage” organized by the Ministry of Culture and sponsored by the Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 2016, he was appointed as a crafts master in the Asia-Pacific region by the World Crafts Council, and sat on the board of the Committee of Experts of Chinese Light Industry Jewelry Center.
